Overview
What are policies, procedures and SOPs?
Policies set out the rules and expectations an organisation commits to. Procedures and standard operating procedures (SOPs) explain step by step how work is done, by whom, and which controls apply. Together they turn good governance into everyday practice.
We review what you already have, close the gaps and write documentation that reflects how your organisation really works, so people can find it, understand it and follow it. Controls are built into each procedure rather than bolted on.
What it stands for
Who it’s for
When documentation no longer matches reality
Out-of-date or missing procedures are one of the most common causes of control failures and audit findings. Good SOPs make responsibilities clear, speed up training and reduce errors.
- Growing organisations formalising how things are done
- Teams with outdated, conflicting or missing procedures
- Organisations preparing for audit, investment or certification
- Businesses onboarding new staff, systems or locations

Frequently asked questions
Policies, Procedures & SOPs: your questions
How much does it cost to write policies and SOPs?
It depends on how many policies and procedures are needed and whether we are reviewing or writing from scratch. We quote a fixed fee per agreed document set.
What is the difference between a policy and an SOP?
A policy sets out what must happen and why. A standard operating procedure explains step by step how it is done, by whom and with which controls.
Which processes do you document?
Common ones include procure-to-pay, order-to-cash, payroll, inventory, fixed assets, expenses and month-end close, but we cover any process you need.
Can you review our existing policies rather than rewrite them?
Yes. Many clients start with a gap review and only update what needs changing.
What is a delegation of authority matrix?
A table that sets out who can approve which decisions and transactions, and up to what value. It is one of the most effective controls an organisation can have.
