Overview
What is governance and risk management?
Governance is the system of structures, roles and processes through which an organisation is directed and controlled. Risk management is how it identifies, assesses and responds to the risks that could affect its objectives.
Together they help boards make better decisions, allocate resources wisely and avoid surprises. A working risk framework also gives internal audit a clear basis for its risk-based plan.

Frequently asked questions
Governance & Risk Management: your questions
How much does a governance review cost?
It depends on the scope, from a single risk workshop to a full governance review. We agree a fixed fee in advance.
What is a risk appetite statement?
A statement of how much risk the board is willing to accept in pursuit of its objectives, used to guide decisions and escalation.
How is this different from internal audit?
Risk management is how the organisation identifies and manages its risks. Internal audit gives independent assurance on whether that, and your controls, work.
Can you facilitate our risk workshop?
Yes. Facilitated workshops with leadership are usually the fastest way to agree principal risks.
Do you work with not-for-profit boards?
Yes. We work with private, public and not-for-profit organisations of all sizes.
